Hi team, I am using Fuel Gauge Ic LC709202FRD-01, i am able to read and write everything through I2C. But issue is with Cell temp, It is always showing 25 degree Celsius. I checked cell temp with K-TYPE thermometer of battery and i got 33 degree Celsius but in fuel gauge it is always showing 25 degree Celsius, no changes occurred even i changed environment temp. In Datasheet it is mentioned that *Set HIGH When reading in the temperature, held low at other times of TSW pin, How can i set HIGH or LOW as there is no register information present regarding TSW pin also it is OUTPUT pin.? Could you please help me register setting for this.? 52 2015-06-15 09:37:29.845
I am designing a board for an airborne system. I would like to use your 8 output drivers NCV7608 as a High Side and Low Side driver (configuring each output with jumpers). 1. The operating voltage is a protected nominal 28V power with a maximum steady state voltage of 32V. This voltage is above the recommended operating condition in the NCV7608 datasheets. Should this be a problem? 2. Can two outputs be paralleled (source to source and drain to drain) without adding series diodes? 3. Do you have any equivalent chip with lower maximum current limit (<1A) but with the same other capabilities? Thanks, Zvi Dadash 58 2015-06-11 12:23:31.537

To whom it may concern, Hello, there! I got an issue when I read the datasheet of NCP6925, the Power Management IC. I just wonder if there's any non-volatile memory (e.g. EEPROM ) integrated in the IC or not. If NCP6925 doesn't have the specification, please let me know if you have other products that satisfied my requirement. Wish you a pleasant day! Kind Regards, Jack Huang 391 2015-01-28 10:21:54.92
AN9093 MSOFET switch I have been reading AN9093 and I think it is an excellent article for MOSFET switches. For PMOS switch (Figure 7), although we see in the AN that R1,R2 and C1 is used, for • R1 and R2 to set VGS. • C1 to tune inrush current Based on the content of the AN, C1 “dominates over CGD”, so C1 overrides CGD and successfully controls inrush current for CLOAD. But for the gate driver Q1, the lack of corresponding additional “C1” means only very small parasitic capacitance CG2D2 exists, and does this suggest the plateau period should be extremely short, leading to ultrafast rise/fall time? Also, since R1+R2 limits current, so there should be no necessity to consider any “inrush current”, which justifies the lack of corresponding “C1” between source and drain. Does this make sense? So can we completely ignore the primary upper PMOS’s tuning circuit {R1,R2,C1}, for the gate driver Q1? Does Q1 affect rise/fall speed of the driver in any way? 485 2015-01-19 09:48:17.296

Simple, complete Low cost isolated 100Vac to 260Vac input and 3V or 3.3V 250mA+ output design? I have a couple of engineer friends I know and we are all having issues getting a really low cost simple isolated supply. Why cant we get 240Vac to 3.3V/3V isolated designs for a few dollars? Do you have design references you can link that would be USD$5 tp USD$8 or so for complete BOM? we feel like this should be very simple with loads of references and already complete designs for engineers to just plug in, obviously people want to power processors from mains power so it should be a simply task right? 574 2015-01-12 14:26:14.669

I have a 12 volt regulator. Want to put some type of zener clamp on the output of the 12 volt regulator for overvoltage protection. Seems most standard zener diodes individually do not have the current rating to trip the fuse (the 0.5 amp self-resetting fuse trips at 1 amp). I have also looked at TVS type diodes but they do not have a continuous current specification. Do you have any suggestions for my application? 475 2015-01-05 12:17:32.363

Part Number: NCP1081 Integrated High Power PoE-PD & DC-DC Converter Controller
Subject: Not sure the device detecting as POE+ PD or POE PD
Description: Hi, I designed a POE+ PD device and tested it. it works fine with POE+ PSE, But when I connect it to a POE PSE, then also it works. The PSE should detect this as POE+ and shouldn't source power to PD. Rclass resistor value used is 30.9ohms.

Reference 1N5333B series Zener Voltage Regulators, specifically 1N5388B (200V, 5W zener). My problem is datasheet versus ohm's law. The datasheet has: At 200V (Vz), I-zt is specified at 5mA. And Z-zt at I-zt is specified at 480 ohms. But why is this not consistant with Ohm's law: Ohms = V/I = 200V/5mA = 40,000 ohms I am trying to limit an unregulated HighVoltage power supply which goes over-voltage, So I want to limit it with zeners. But I don't want the zeners to current-overload my HVPS when the 'safe' over-voltage falls near the rated-voltage output. My application is biasing individual photomultiplier dynodes with individual HVPS for US Navy, NAVAIR. So I really need to know zener-impedance at 5ma, 1mA, 0.1mA. And I also need to know at what voltage does the zener impedance start a significant increase (only a very few zeners on this datasheet show this inflection). So is there data on zener impedance as they approach Vz ? Thank you kindly. 1578 2014-01-28 12:30:20.138

Hi expert, All below question refer to the diode/ rectifier. As you know, we usually can find the average forward current IF(av) and Non-Repetitive Peak Surge Current IFSM on the datasheet of diode, but it don't define the allowable repeative maximum forward current, for example, MURA215T3G, so i have some question showed as below, pls help to confirm:

1. what is the allowable repeative maximum forward current and how to get/caculate it? whether this spec is important or not for a diode application?
2. what are the relationship between IF(av) and IFSM and the allowable repeative maximum forward current?
3. how to read /understand the datasheet of a diode? have you any document to help me to better understant it?
4. why the IF(av) always kept the same value, even during low lead temperature case? what is the limitation?
5. Is there SOA concept for a diode, just like Mosfet?
6. sometimes, we can find the maximum rms forward currend defined in the datasheet, how to understand this spec and it is relationship between others?

We currently use a P6SMB30AT3G to protect our circuit for over voltage. However, our regulator is only rated to 24Vdc. I'm concerned that won't protect the regulator from over voltage. Do I use the P6SMB24AT3G? Can i still specify my product to 24Vdc if I use that suppressor? Thank you, -Cory 1444 2013-05-09 13:54:27.928
Hello, Is it possible to know the value of the tun on conction losses of the IGBT NGTB40N60IHLW-D. I only see the turn off switching losses in the datasheet. Thanks, Lucie SCHMITT 1700 2013-04-30 14:16:10.821
What is the lifetime, MTBF, or FIT (failure in time) of a BJT operated at its maximum rated junction temperature? I am assuming that a rating of 150C has some such lifetime, MTBF, or FIT factor. Is this factor an industry standard value for any given junction temperature that I can use with the Arrhenius Equation to estimate the increase in lifetime, MTBF, or corresponding reduction in FIT? What standard might specify and have more details of this issue? Please send me the links to any On Semiconductor documents that might have more details as well. I'm using the demo board for the NCP1012 with a few modifications. I've changed the transformer, output capacitor and zener to deliver 30 volts at 3 watts. I've got a couple of questions. First, I'm driving a large output capacitor (4700 uF) that is needed for energy storage in the event of line loss. The modified demo board will charge it up but it takes about 10 seconds. I assume that the problem is the controller's overload detection being activated. Are there any tricks to getting that bulk capacitor charged up quicker? My second issue is that I believe I'm damaging the controller when I pull out the power cord (sudden line loss). I'll have it running delivering about 50 mA to my load and then I'll yank out the power cord, The next time I power up and apply my load the voltage on the large storage capacitor drops suddenly by about 5 volts and then gets back to 30 volts. It's like the board's frequency response is significantly worse. If I put in a new controller, plug in the power cord, let the output capacitor charge to 30 volts then apply my 50 mA load, there's no noticeable drop in the voltage of the large storage capacitor. Any thoughts as to how I'm apparently damaging the controller? 2267 2013-04-25 14:26:46.97

Hi, I designed a POE+ PD device and tested it. it works fine with POE+ PSE, But when I connect it to a POE PSE, then also it works. The PSE should detect this as POE+ and shouldn't source power to PD. Rclass is R29, and resistor value used is 30.9ohms. 1808 2013-04-17 08:27:45.426
We are trying to design a power supply that runs from two AAA batteries wired in parallel and outputs 3.3V. The requirement is to keep the peak to peak ripple voltage under 10millivots. For our design we are using 2 stages. 1 to boost the voltage of the cells and one to regulate the voltage. The regulator we chose is the NCP702. We are using a boost converter for the first stage. This boosts the voltage from 1.5V to 5V. Our first stage booster produces an output ripple of about 60millivolts. The second stage is the NCP702 LDO. From the device we obtain a ripple voltage of about 14millivolts. Even running the regulator directly from a 4Volt cell we obtain a ripple of about 8mv to 10mv peak to peak. The data sheet states that we can get a ripple of 11microvolts RMS. The peak to peak of a rms value of 11microvolts assuming a sine wave is still one order of magnitude lower then what we are obtaining. What recommendations are there to reduce ripple from this device? Any Advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. 1625 2013-04-10 15:05:31.796
I want to use your NCV8664 regulator to power a linear Hall sensor. We need to program this device after it is packaged. Can I raise the regulated 5 V output to 8 Volts without damaging the regulator? Thank you Norm Poirier 1687 2013-04-05 07:18:30.199
Ref: MJ11032 I believe that the MJ11032 device contains two die in parallel. Can you confirm this? Do you have a device with similar voltage and current ratings with a lower RqJC ? Is a similar or larger part available in a different package? i.e. T0-247 I am investigating for a linear power supply upgrade in a pulse amplifier application. Do you have any data available for the long term reliability of these parts in pulsed applications? Can the Aluminum bond wires have a tendency to work harden? Hello. I have a question about CCFF technique. Why is there a dead time when the current fall under preset value - why is this good? Is this only when the load is reduced? In FCCrM the dead time is eliminated by changing the duty cycle (longer t(on)). What about in CCFF? Why and when (when we have nominal load or just when the load is reduced) exactly we get the fluctuations on voltage drain source? Thank you for your answers. Best regards Marko 1689 2013-03-07 17:08:51.915
We use your CS8182 LDO, which has a note on page 7 warning the user that the ESR of the output cap is important to have within some unspecified range for stability. We have an application using them where they have 15Vin and produce 5Vout, at about 20mA, with intent of a 10uF ceramic bypass and a 0.1uF ceramic bypass on that output. ON Semi makes a similar part with nearly identical datasheet, the NCV8184, that has identical wording on its page 7, but goes on to add a paragraph saying one should look into an App note on your website called "Compensation for Linear Regulators" doc # SR003AN/D ... I have tried all sorts of things and can not find that doc on your site. Further, the NCV8184 does give the user stability plots on its page 3 (Figs 4-5) which would be great, except you will notice that Fig 5 claims for C2=0.1uF the Unstable region is below the line and on Fig 4 it claims that C2=0.1uF is stable below the line ... that is, for ESR=1 Ohm and C2=0.1uF, Fig 4 says you would be stable for all loads and then Fig 5 says you would be unstable for all loads ... I think ON Semi wants to rethink at least one of those plots. So we get back to my question on seeing suggested ranges of ESR for let's say 10uF at 5Vout and around 20mA for a CS8182 ... can you shed some light? Thanks 1814 2013-02-25 08:11:06.359

I'm using MC33167 as DC-DC buck convertor (with 190uH, 5A Iron powedered core inductor, SB540 Schotky Diode and 4700uF, 50V Electrolytic Cap as other elements). Now I noticed that when I'm feeding the MC33167 from a 24V battery it allows upto 6A of output load current but when I supply it from a Transformer-Bridge-Filter power supply of 33V it allows only upto 4.6A of load current and then starts reducing the output voltage when tried to increase the load, to maintain the current at arounf 4.6A. Any idea why this could be happening? Is it because of the feature 'Cycle-by-Cycle Current Limiting' that acts more for higher input voltages? 1605 2013-02-11 11:16:08.931

Good morning. I have looked through the data sheet and the Reference Manual, SOLDERRM/D, but cannot find information about component terminal finish. Therefore please could you let me know what is the terminal finish for Diode BZX84CxxxLT1G. If it is Matte Tin, is it annealled at 150C. Is there a Nickle under plate etc? Is there a web link that will fully identify terminal finish for all of your components? Regards John 1649 2013-02-01 09:33:45.073

Hi I am using a MC33025 in voltage mode together with a transformer to produce +/-400V. The transformer starts to whistle when i turn on the high voltage. I have RT set to 6k8 and ct set to 2n2. Is this too low? Error amp input has a cap between pin one and 2 but what value must this be? as the datasheet does not give any calculations for this. 1866 2013-01-16 05:10:20.46

Although conventional wisdom dictates DC-DC converters employ standard PWM topologies. However, when driving a capacitive load and when energy efficiency is critical requirement, one is naturally drawn to resonant conversion. The ;Dynamic Self Supply; feature of the NCP101x circuits interests me as it could go with a two coil only flyback transformer. I am aware of your ;GreenPoint Simulation Tool; but it seems to support only LED output loads. How to design a transformer for a constant voltage 3.8 VDC output, typically just 100 mA load but with occasional 2.5 A load bursts? Input is 195...260 VAC, 50 Hz.\n\nI hope to use NCP1013 or NCP1014. 1930 2011-12-20 15:33:01.0
I am looking at various current sensing techniques to improve efficiency. Once I saw an ap note about a way to bias the current sense amplifier using a lower value sense resistor than usual. The sense amplifier was biased up with a voltage through a resistor from a positive source. In this manner, this made the current sense amp work with the smaller voltage across the lower value current sense resistor. This is a rough anology to using a comparator with a low value resistor across its inputs...the comparator trips with a very small voltage to the input. Unfortantly, I can't find the Ap Note again. Perhaps you have seen it. Any thing on current sense will help. Thanks. 1880 2011-11-03 20:09:52.0

Using metering Voltage Transformers with a 3phase 100v L-L voltage, and a Source VA rating of 25va per phase, I need a DC Power Supply 24vdc , with very high protection of the input supply. Also would it be possible to have a 150vdc supply from the same unit. 2061 2011-08-15 10:38:17.0
I use an LM117 to implement an adjustable DC supply that outputs about 1 - 22V. Can you point me to a reference design for a switching regulator approach to this same kind of adjustable power supply? My loads are all very modest -- well under an ampere. 2078 2011-07-31 20:03:04.0
At present I am designing the transformer for this power supply. Requirement is 12W output at 12V. Input can vary from 19Vdc to 273Vdc. (ie lower end of 24V battery to peak rectified 264Vac). I am considering a flyback convertor and possibly discontinuous mode of operation. At 19Vdc I understand that the power supply will be switching at maximum frequency (135KHz) and 50% duty cycle (50% helps the control loop). My question is that due to the large input voltage range, if there is full load at 350Vdc (264ac x 1.414) input, the frequency will fall below the audible frequency and the peak current reduces to about 30% of the maximum peak (according to the data sheet) . (1) If that is the case then, does this controller maintain that 30% of the peak current (to keep mechanical resonance low) and increase the frequency to above audible range to deliver full power? (2) What happens at light load and 370Vdc input? (3) If I have to consider higher switching frequency then what is the maximum frequency I can consider with this ic? (4) Do you expect any problem using this ic for the above design? (5) Do you have more technical application notes for this ic? (6) Is there any other ic more suited for this application? (NCP1380?.....) 1847 2011-07-21 17:58:10.0
I'm currently part of a project involving DC-to-DC conversion and opted to use your MC34063 chip. I would like to ask if this could provide multiple output voltages (say -24V, -56V, -5V) from an input voltage of 5V; or do I have to use other chips like the uA78S40 or several of them. 2005 2011-06-15 18:00:46.0
