CCM Totem pole PFC 1000 W design with Gate driver integrated GaNFETs

Overview

The NCP1681CCM1KWGEVB design demonstrates a Multi-mode bridgeless totem pole power factor correction (PFC) application based on the NCP1681 PFC controller. The power stage uses NCP58921 gate-driver-integrated 650 V GaN FETs in the fast-switching leg, an NCP51561 galvanically isolated gate driver for the fast leg and an NCP51530 high-voltage gate driver for the slow leg. The EVB configuration can accept an input voltage of 90 to 265 Vac input and provides a nominal 395 Vdc output.

By eliminating the conventional input diode bridge, the topology reduces conduction losses and enables higher-efficiency, higher-power-density AC-DC designs. Connectors and test points support evaluation of switching waveforms, current sensing, operating-mode transitions and control-loop behavior.

This high-voltage EVB is for demonstration purposes only and should not be used to power any loads other than an electronic load.
