48V-LV DC-DC converter modules provide power flow between the 48V (medium voltage) and 12V (low voltage) power nets on mild hybrids (MHEV). These modules are unnoticed by the end user but provide key functionality, as MHEVs do not have a traditional 12V power net alternator; instead, they have a 48V starter generator. The 48V starter generator provides the ability to charge both the 48V battery, and by using the DC-DC module the 12V battery. It is possible for the DC-DC converter module to be bidirectional, allowing power flow in either direction for specific use cases. Power levels from 1kW to 3kW are common, with systems requiring components rated at 40V on the 12V power net, and 80V or more on the 48V power net of the converter. Our discrete MOSFETs and Automotive Power Modules (APM) give designers the ability to scale their solutions, while providing maximum power density and high reliability for DC-DC converter modules used in MHEVs.
